River maintenance involves optimising the stream to create fast flowing channels ideal for wildlife. Ranunculus is a perfect habitat for crustacea. Marginal plants are perfect for insects.
Taking care of the river ecosystem makes for a stronger environment.
We are committed to the conservation of this area working with Natural England, the Wild Trout Trust, Wessex Rivers Trust, the Environment Agency and The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
We restored this stretch of the River Test with the help of the Watercress and Winterbournes Project in collaboration with the Wild Trout Trust. There will be exciting community-building events, education and training sessions for volunteers in the project.
